Since February I've been considered a stay at home Mom. A term I'm not used to at all. Considering I have 4 other children, I've always either been in school, or at work 6 to 8 weeks after I've had every baby except for my last one. My last position had stated that I did not qualify for the "Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)", so they fired me as soon as I was put out on maternity leave. Go figure!
Anyway, I considered the "lay off" a blessing.....1 because even though I was fired, I was fired under good terms. I also had great relationships with my bosses so I knew I could always use them as a reference when I decided to go back to work. And 2 because this would allow me to really build a bond with my child which was something I wasn't able to do with my other children because I had to immediately put them into daycare so that I can return back to either school or work. So all in all, this was a blessing for me.
Outside of my everyday mommy duties, I had to figure out ways to encourage my new baby son's curiosity, and of course, to keep him active during the day so that he'll be able to sleep through the night without any interruptions. When I had my baby shower back in February, I received a lot of gifts from friends. However, most of the gifts I received, I wasn't able to use until my son was of a certain age. Not a problem! I put away the gifts and said I would return to them when the time was right. Wrong!
I totally forgot that I had these useful items and didn't even realize I had such great gifts until I looked in my closet one day and found them! My son was having his little tantrums that most 6 month old babies have. He was whining and just looking to get into EVERYTHING! Just as a sidebar, my son is VERY active. He's been crawling since he was 4 months and is already standing and walking while holding on to the couch or bed....and he just turned 6 months! I'm literally all over the place just chasing after him!
Anywho, I say all that to say that when I was in my closet, I found a jumper and activity play mat from Baby Einstein which was given to me from my friend Maggie! What a genius move on her part! I immediately opened up the box and put it together.
The end result? MIRACULOUS!!
This particular jumper is for babies 6 months of age and older. So that is the reason why I'm just using my gift. But if you'd like to try out the product for yourself, you can easily purchase this item at your local ToysRUs stores for about $49.99.
